Mars in Taiwan and Hong Kong is typically all about protein powders and the occasional, uniquely flavored protein drinks. We have seen the company dive into the world of functional foods too, and in those releases, we saw even more creativity. A few years ago, the brand came out with high-protein sandwich cookies that were deliciously handmade, and two years ago, fans were treated to gooey-center Bounce Cookies for the Moon Festival.
It has been a while since Mars played around with food, but it is back at it this month with the reveal and release of yet another intriguing edible item called Crun. It is a packet of light and crunchy, bite-sized pieces that have a slim layer of chocolate around the outside. This is one of those products that’s better treated as a protein treat than a lean, reliable source of protein, with 13g of protein per pack, 5.8g of sugar, 12.8g of carbohydrates, and 188 calories.
The protein-to-calorie ratio of Mars’ Crun doesn’t quite measure up to your standard protein bar, including the number-one-rated Barebells Protein Bar at its usual 20g of protein to 200 calories. All of that aside, the product looks like quite the tasty snack and a nice change of pace from the standard bar format. You get several pieces per pack to get that 13g of protein, and it’s available now in boxes of ten at NT$65 each or NT$580 (17.96 USD) for ten.
