All Stars’ latest functional food squeezes as much as 31g of protein into a bowl of porridge, and that figure doesn’t rely on simply adding milk to traditional oats. Protein Porridge is the German brand’s newest way to get extra protein into everyday eating, following its recently introduced creamy-filled protein bar range with something you can prepare for breakfast using little more than some hot water.
Protein Porridge from All Stars is primarily made of milk concentrate and tried-and-true oatmeal or oats, alongside the fiber sources chicory root and psyllium. A 60g serving of the functional product packs 31g of protein, about half of that in carbohydrates at 16g, 2.5g of sugar, 1.5g of fat, and 212 calories. Those numbers are for the Neutral variety, while Chocolate is a bit lower at 29g of protein and 211 calories.
We have to give it up for All Stars here, as typically functional items like this go heavy on the carbohydrates, to give the feeling of getting more for your money. Protein Porridge goes against that, being primarily protein with some oat-based carbohydrates thrown in for a two-to-one protein-to-carb ratio. The product is available directly from the brand’s website in tubs of about 10 bowls, with its regular price being €32.99, although there is a launch discount bringing it down to €26.39 (30.48 USD).
