Markus Rühl’s brand puts together an incredibly lean and great-value milk-based protein powder

Ruhls Bestes Milky Protein Isolate

Rühls Bestes from the legendary bodybuilder Markus Rühl is extremely popular in Germany, and it is one hell of a competitor in protein powder with supplements based around whey, egg protein, blend-style formulas, and multiple clear options. With whey continuing to climb in cost, Markus Rühl’s German brand has introduced a particularly interesting alternative in Milky Protein Isolate 85, a lactose-free milk protein isolate offering milk’s naturally faster and slower protein fractions in a lean and affordable product.

Unlike most protein powders, Rühls Bestes’ Milky Protein Isolate 85 comes in a completely plain, unflavored version, which is the leanest of the lot with 25.5g of protein in a 30g serving, less than a gram of fat, close to zero carbohydrates, and a clean 104 calories. There are, of course, flavored varieties that involve a few other ingredients, including the artificial sweetener sucralose, and while they do push the protein-to-calorie ratio up, it’s still lean, with Milk Chocolate having 24g of protein to 100 calories.

Milky Protein Isolate 85 has launched in three other actual flavors, outside of Unflavored and Milk Chocolate with Vanilla, Cookie Dough, and a sweet Strawberry. As mentioned earlier, despite the balanced nutrition profile, the price is where the new product becomes especially impressive, sitting at just €23.95 (27.84 USD). That’ll get you a 1kg or 2.2lb bag, greater value than many of Rühls Bestes’ other protein powders, including Bester Mix Whey Protein, Casein Protein, and any of its isolate-based items.
