Yoplait has been making yogurt since 1965, beginning when six French dairy cooperatives came together and created the flower logo that remains central to the brand today. It entered Mexico through Sigma Alimentos in 1994 and has since built an extensive family of traditional, Greek, drinkable, plant-based, and children’s products, but its latest development brings that mainstream dairy experience much closer to active nutrition.
The newly released Griego Max Protein is a convenient bottled Greek yogurt delivering a respectable 18g of protein per serving. Yoplait has gone further than simply increasing that headline number, reinforcing the product with added leucine to further support muscle growth and recovery. The yogurt beverage packs 18g of protein per bottle, 3.3g of carbohydrates, almost all of that sugar, zero fat, and an impressively low 88 calories.
That protein-to-calorie ratio of Yoplait’s Griego Max Protein Drink is actually better than almost all protein bars, being closer to an actual protein shake. The twist here is, of course, all of that is in a thick and filling Greek yogurt beverage, in two flavors, a fruity Strawberry and the richer, coffee-inspired CafĂ© Latte. Both are rolling into stores in Mexico this month, including at the big-box retailer Walmart, where they cost $36 (2.12 USD) each.
