The new GNC is here with better rewards and apparently lower prices

gnc

The new GNC is here, and with it has come the retailer’s much lower pricing and loyalty program called MyGNC Rewards. The website gnc.com does still feature a very familiar design, with the biggest change being the pricing on all of the products. As promised GNC no longer has separate Gold Card and regular prices, there is now just the one.

MyGNC Rewards

We’ll start with all the details we have on the MyGNC Rewards system, which we did touch on a little before Xmas, although we didn’t have everything you needed to know at the time. Basically, each dollar you spend gets you one reward point, then when you reach a total of 150 points you can get a $5 cash back reward. It is said that there will be several opportunities where you can earn double and triple points, with users also getting a free $10 gift for their birthdays and new sign ups getting an introductory $5 cash back.

MyGNC Pro Access

On top of GNC’s new rewards program, the retailer has a more premium club you can choose to join called MyGNC Pro Access. It will cost an extra $39.99 a year, but in return you get free shipping on all orders and customized Pro Boxes filled with products sent to you three times a year. Another rather interesting perk included in MyGNC Pro Access is quarterly pick-your-day sales, where four times a year you get to pick a deal you want to use on a select day such as double points on a Monday or 20% off all Friday.

Lower prices

Something we’ve heard a lot about for GNC’s relaunch is lower pricing. Based on what it has listed online, we can’t confirm everything that’s been changed, however we can tell you that a lot of its mainstream supplements are higher than most. While some of Cellucor’s items are about the same as they are in a lot of other places, the likes of P6 and CLK are about 10 to 25% cheaper at Bodybuilding.com. Another example is BPI Sports’ Best BCAA and 1MR, which are also cheaper at Bodybuilding.com by a few bucks.

Not enough to make us change

It’s certainly great to see GNC make a number of changes with creative additions like MyGNC Rewards, although it’s not quite enough to make us want to shop there. For starters it’s still lacking in the brand department, as believe it or not you won’t find a single one of our top 10 pre-workouts available there. Also when it comes to best pricing, the price comparison website PricePlow is still our go to, where you’re pretty much guaranteed to get the best deal on the market.
