myGNC Pro Access: Good value and convenient, but not necessary

myGNC Pro Access

Since GNC relaunched itself roughly half a year ago with its new pricing, website, and rewards programs. Fans have asked us quite a few times if it’s worth upgrading to myGNC Pro Access?

The answer to that is all very dependant on the individual, as with most rewards programs it all depends on your situation, what you’re looking for, and whether you have the money to spare. Here, we’ll go over the benefits of myGNC Pro Access combined with reasons as to whether or not it’s worth it for you.

myGNC Rewards

There is, of course, the regular myGNC Rewards program which is free to join, making it worthwhile for anyone who has or occasionally buys from GNC in store or online. At the free level, you get one reward point for every dollar spent with 150 points getting you $5 cash back, a gift on your birthday, and double and triple rewards sales.

Moving on to myGNC Pro Access, the first catch is it does cost you $39.99 a year to join, so you have to weigh that up every step of the way. The biggest feature of the upgraded program is that you get free shipping. While that is great, free shipping is available at a number of other online stores such as Same Day, Suppz, and Tiger Fitness. You just need to meet a certain order total that can be pretty easy if you buy two, three or more supplements a month.

Another major perk with myGNC Pro Access is you get to pick a day to have a sale just for you, every quarter, with things like 20% off and multiplied points, although GNC is the one that picks the sale. At first, that does sound good, but again there are some competitors out there that have massive BOGOs and bigger percentage savings more than four times a year. So for this one, the convenience is picking the day, something some people will like and others won’t mind going without.

The last few myGNC Pro Access benefits are Pro boxes three times a year containing samples and coupons related to your interests, chances to win prizes via giveaways, and a dedicated support line. You can once again make comparisons to competing retailers, as some stores do throw in samples with every order and do giveaways, but if you are a fan of freebies the more, the merrier.

Good value, but not necessary

Overall the $40 does seem to be worth it for myGNC Pro Access mostly due to the convenience. If you’d like to order and get free shipping with no minimums, a handful of sales for the odd or bulk purchase when you choose, four freebies a year counting the birthday gift, myGNC Pro is worth it, especially at only $3.33 a month.

While the upgraded rewards program is worth the money, there is an argument going the other way for those that want to save money. The benefits and value are there, however they are all things you can do without. If you order a stack a month, free shipping is available for a lot of other retailers, the freebies are of course not necessary, and there are a lot of frequent, top notch sales out there that are open to everyone.
