Performix Protein Bark Review: Rich chocolate with a crunchy consistency

performix protein bark review

When Performix first released details on its high protein snack, Protein Bark, we knew we had to review it. The product is unlike anything else we’ve seen from a major supplement company with protein and peanut packed, dark chocolate bark pieces.

Macros

Each bag of Protein Bark provides 30g of protein, primarily coming from milk protein isolate. You then have 24g of carbohydrates with 21g of that fiber and 3g sugar, 30g of fat, for a total of 450 calories. The macros are certainly more than you’d get from your typical protein bar, even more than the larger ones with 30g of protein.

First bite

Performix Protein Bark does look and smell the part, and as soon as you bite into it, you get its title taste with a crunchy peanut, dark chocolate experience. The product does an alright job at getting across all of its flavors the moment it hits your mouth, however, the chocolate does taste a little powdery.

While that initial flavor hit from Performix’s Protein Bark is quite enjoyable, it does wear relatively thin as you get to the end of chewing it. That seemingly rich dark chocolate flavor fades into almost nothing, although the simple solution there is just to throw back another few pieces.

Consistency

Another feature of Performix Protein Bark that makes it a bit more unique, is that mixed in with its chocolatey experience is a crunchy consistency from the peanut pieces. They also bring with them a touch of peanut flavor, seeing the protein snack truly come through in all areas of its title taste.

Summary

The latest on-the-go protein treat from Performix is about as interesting as we expected. It combines a strong chocolate flavor with a unique snack form, resulting in an enjoyable product that you could eat an entire bag of. It’s not really comparable to the real thing or as good as some other hard protein chocolate we’ve tried, but a strong competitor nonetheless.

While Performix Protein Bark is an easy to eat snack, that is where you gotta watch out. Macro-wise it isn’t the leanest protein product on the market, with a whole bag packing 30g of protein for 450 calories. If however that nutrition profile sounds alright to you, then it’s all about how happy you are with its price at $4.99 per bag.
