Caramels is a tasty new low sugar treat from the creative, functional food company SmartSweets, designed to be its take on the classic, bite-sized, sweet and smooth caramel candy. In typical SmartSweets style, the nutrition on its upcoming Caramels is far better than that of your traditional caramel candies, with only a gram of sugar in every bag and a good amount of fiber.
SmartSweets Caramels is not launching for another few months, although we were fortunate enough to get a few samples and found them to be a reasonably good effort. The product is as soft and smooth as the real thing, and it has that malty base taste of caramel; and while the signature sweetness of caramel is not present, it still makes for an impressive attempt at 1g of sugar.
Once again, SmartSweets Caramels are not due to be available for a few months, at which point it’ll be launching in full-size 45g bags, with several of the smooth, bite-sized caramels in each. The product will have no sugar alcohols or artificial sweeteners, a completely plant-based formula, and it’s made with all-natural flavors. Caramels will be a great addition to the SmartSweets family and will undoubtedly be enjoyed by the brand’s massive fanbase.
