Naked revamps its eight-month-old energy drink without cane sugar and monk fruit

Naked Energy Drink 2

It was only eight months ago that the clean nutrition brand Naked Nutrition got into the energy drink market with the kind of beverage you’d expect from it. Naked Sparkling Energy is uniquely made with just six different ingredients, including carbonated water, fruit juice, natural flavors, cane sugar, the natural sweetener monk fruit, and natural caffeine. It debuted in three flavors with Lemonade, Strawberry Lemonade, and Orange, all with 15 calories a can.

A new 2.0 version of Naked Sparkling Energy has hit the market this week, which, according to Naked Nutritio, has a “New look. New Formula. Same unaltered energy”. It does look marginally different on the outside with small changes in the information displayed and its sizing, but it’s mostly the same. As for the “New formula”, it still has six ingredients, although cane sugar is no longer one of them, and it doesn’t list monk fruit anymore; it just says plant-based natural flavors.

With the removal of cane sugar, Naked Sparkling Energy has come down in nutrition, where there is absolutely no sugar and a clean five calories, versus the original’s 15. Naked Nutrition’s caffeine is still at 200mg from unroasted coffee beans, so it will still have the “Same unaltered energy”; it’s mostly the taste that’ll be different. Fans who tried the original will get to truly compare the versions, as Naked Energy 2.0 comes in the same three flavors in Lemonade, Strawberry Lemonade, and Orange, all available now direct at $35.99 for a case of 12.
