Nothing major from Neon Sport, Cellucor set their spin off launch for June

Cellucor release the backstory and inspirations of Neon Sport

Last week Cellucor announced the name behind their new cost effective spin off brand, Neon Sport. It was said that the company would be quite different with it’s intentions by targeting an audience who consider price one of the major factors when purchasing supplements. Along with the teaser came a link to the brand’s Facebook, Twitter, and website. All of which seemed to be promoting another big announcement coming this week. Unfortunately even though that announcement has been released, it’s more bad news than good.

What was thought to be some sort of launch or preview this week, has turned out to be a press release about Neon and what they’re about. There are only two things that can be gained from reading the backstory. Firstly the brand are looking to launch with four supplements, a pre-workout, an amino cocktail, a testosterone booster, and a cortisol control product. Secondly, nobody will be able to get a hold of any of those formulas until next month.

The thing that seems to be most interesting is that while Neon Sport are promoting strong price points. None of their supplements are staple products. Meaning, protein, creatine, multi-vitamin, things that people would use if they didn’t have much money to spend. Testosterone boosters and cortisol control supplements are luxury items, making those cost effective is pointless when their priority is much lower than that of the basics.

The amino and pre-workout are more necessary items, however Neon are going to have a very difficult time trying to compete. With BSN and Muscle Pharm, both holding massive variants of their formulas in AminoX and Amino1, Cellucor will need to be retailing their cocktail for around the $20 mark. As for the pre-workout situation, since Jack3d price has never really been an issue with the category. The problems get even bigger with the increasing reach of the science based pre-workout Ritual, one of the best products in it’s division that also manages to carry an unbeatable retail value of $30.

For now we can not write off Neon Sport completely, as nothing about their supplements has been released.  It’s just unfortunate that the way the new company is being promoted makes them seem a bit like BPI when they pushed out 1 M.R., or Gaspari and Superdrive. It’s a release process that makes you feel like it is not going to end with you saving money. Feelings aside there are meant to be product previews coming next week, which will hopefully put those cost conscious minds at ease.
