The FDA has released a finalized version of its updated nutrition facts label, that’s been designed to help consumers “make better informed food choices”. The list of changes made to the label includes a refreshed layout, updated information and all new serving sizes for various package sizes. To make things a little easier the FDA has put together a side by side comparison of its new nutrition facts label and the current one.

You can check out the side by side image above where you’ll notice several differences throughout. Some of the biggest changes would be the increase in type size to the calorie count, updated daily values, and the most interesting of them all the need to list a product’s exact amount of added sugar. You can see the complete announcement on the FDA’s website, which goes into a lot more detail on each of the changes.

The FDA has also said that manufacturers will need to be using the new layout by the 26th of July 2018, unless however it’s a smaller company then the deadline is one year later.
