Protein Biscuit Review: Myprotein delivers quite a unique protein treat

Protein Biscuit Review

Late last month the major international supplement company Myprotein, revealed and released an Oreo-like protein snack called Protein Biscuit. It of course immediately caught our attention and due to it having a treat style nutrition profile with 6.7g of protein for 125 calories, we figured it’d be worth getting a hold of for review.

Myprotein has actually done a great job with this product, and we’re not saying that because as we were expecting it to be bad. The reason we’re so surprised is that most supplements that look and sound as delicious as this one — Oreo-like — don’t turn out that way. They tend to get your hopes up and unfortunately let you down as they’re not as good as the chocolate or candy alternative you were hoping for.

Protein Biscuit Review

Convining chocolate cookies

The Myprotein Protein Biscuit is just as the brand describes, a fluffy, protein-rich cream squished between two chocolate cookies. While there isn’t a whole lot of cream to the product, so you don’t get much of an Oreo-like experience consistency wise. The snack’s two cookies are quite impressive and make it feel more like its own unique protein treat.

The cookies themselves are in fact the closest thing we’ve had from the supplement industry to actual cookies. They have a real crunchy, crumbly consistency mixed with a brownie style chocolate taste, that almost makes you forget there is also a fluffy protein cream to the snack. The cookies do get a bit dry and doughy once you’ve been chewing for a while, making them feel more like your typical protein treat, but up until then, they are very convincing.

Sweet cream filling

The creamy Myprotein Protein Biscuit filling is relatively sweet and a great compliment to the realistic cookies. As mentioned, however, there isn’t a lot of it, so when you do get some in a bite, it doesn’t affect the overall taste all that much. The product is definitely a cookie heavy food experience, although seeing as the cookies are quite enjoyable, that’s not a bad thing.

Protein Biscuit Review

If we had anything constructive to say about the Protein Biscuit, it’d be that it could do with a bit more fluffy filling. It may add a bit of size and extra nutrition to the Protein Biscuit, but Myrotein has a great thing here, and if the cream is as protein-rich as it says, it’d only improve it. The bigger creamy center would give it more sweetness, something you do get in parts of the biscuit now, but it’s not consistent and could do with more.

Protein Biscuit summary

Overall the Myprotein Protein Biscuit is relatively unique in that it features cookies with better consistency than any other protein cookie out there. As far as competitiveness goes, there are a few better options out there when it comes to protein snacks, although once again, the brand does have something unique. Basically, if you do decide to give it a go, don’t expect anything overly Oreo-like, but also not like any protein supplement you’ve had before either.
