The Animal Pro Bar is a new, more candy bar-like protein snack from the hardcore brand Animal that has been debuted at this year’s Mr. Olympia Expo. The company is giving everyone at the event the chance to sample and buy the product, although those not at the Olympia will be able to grab it from animalpak.com soon.
Like a lot of other bars on the market, the Animal Pro Bar packs a total of 20g of protein with whey concentrate as its primary source. The snack’s other macros do vary across its two flavors which are Chocolate Peanut Butter Crunch and Chocolate Berry Crunch. The other numbers are 19 to 26g of carbohydrates, 8 to 11g of fat, and 250 calories.
The Chocolate Peanut Butter Crunch is the lower-carb flavor of the two Animal Pro Bars, although it is also slightly higher in fat. Either way, they both end up with the same balance of protein and calories at 20g and 250.
As for the taste and texture of the Animal Pro Bar, the two flavors have a similar build with a crispy infused chocolate outer, and a doughy center. While their builds are similar, the Chocolate Peanut Butter Crunch is definitely the better flavor of the two, in fact, it’s probably one of the best peanut butter protein bars we’ve ever had.
The outer chocolate layer of the Animal Pro Bar packs a semi-realistic chocolate taste that makes for a delicious first bite into the snack. That is followed by a doughy center that doesn’t pack too much flavor in the Chocolate Berry Crunch option, resulting in a relatively basic, light chocolate and berry mix.
The Chocolate Peanut Butter Crunch Animal Pro Bar delivers a much stronger flavor mostly because it has a creamy layer of peanut butter on the inside. The peanut butter gives the product a very moist and smooth consistency as well as a rich flavor, which as mentioned, combines for the ultimate peanut butter experience.
