Latest limited Be Legend products include a protein flavor made with real sake

be legend amazake and sakura mochi protein powder

Be Legend in Japan, who we’re slowly realizing does special edition products quite frequently, has dropped yet another two limited releases this week. Both of the brand’s items are once again flavors of its whey concentrate-based protein powder, with the flavors also not likely being something you’ll ever find outside of Japan.

The first of the two Be Legend special edition proteins is Sakura Mochi, which is a sweet traditional Japanese treat made up of a pink rice cake wrapped in a cherry blossom leaf with a red bean paste center. This is actually a product the brand launched for the first time last year and has decided to bring it back for 2020’s Spring season.

The second of the two Be Legend launches is another traditional Japanese recipe with Amazake, a classic and sweet, low-alcohol beverage made from fermented rice. Unlike Sakura Mochi, the Amazake protein is entirely new, and to get it close to the real thing, it is made with sake, albeit a small amount with less than 0.1% alcohol.

Both flavors are extremely unique, with things like this always being great to see where international brands inject part of their culture and country into their supplements. As mentioned, Be Legend’s Sakura Mochi and Amazake protein powders are limited edition, with only 3,000 bags available of the former and 1,500 of the latter.

You can pick up either of Be Legend’s latest special edition protein powders from its retail partner Real Style at the reasonable price of ¥3,200 (29.53 USD) for a 1kg bag. The nutrition profiles on the flavors are about the same with 21g of protein, less than 2g of fat, between 4 to 5g of carbohydrates, and well under a gram of sugar.
