Animal shares the story behind the unique 44 packs in its iconic Animal Pak

Animal Pak 44 Packs

There are many things unique to the legacy hardcore sports nutrition brand Animal, from the iconic packs that every serving of its pill products comes packaged in, to the classic and stylish tins they sit inside on shelves. Another standout or at least memorable feature of the brand, specifically in its legendary multivitamin Animal Pak, is that it has the rather odd amount of 44 packs in its full-size container.

We recently did an interview with Jason Budsock from Animal about its major revamp involving a rebrand and the launch of several new products. We decided to take that opportunity to dig into the story behind the 44 packs in the signature size of Animal Pak, and after asking some others in the company, we finally got the answer.

Back when Animal Pak was introduced under Universal Nutrition, it wanted to fit in with a three week cycle or at least a multiple of three weeks. Something like 42 packs of the supplement would last you two three-week cycles at one a day or three weeks at two a day. That 42 is obviously not 44, but being the premier multivitamin it is, Animal wanted to make it extra special and memorable, so it decided to do that in the servings by adding two more for the now-signature 44 packs.

Animal said there were some popular athletes that had the number at the time of Animal Pak’s debut, and again, it needed to cover that three-week cycle, so repeating the number was a great idea, and it certainly stuck in our minds. Fans of the brand will know, Animal still, to this day, has that 44 option available, although there is now a 30 pack as well as a flavored powder version in a tub of 44 servings.
