Midnight Ice and Lightning Blast add a spark to Gatorade’s menu but only for a limited time

Midnight Ice Lightning Blast Gatorade

Legacy sports drink Powerade added a bit of flare to its selection this year with the release of its Sour Series, featuring a family of three flavors of its signature hydration beverage, all of which have a sour hint to them. It was an intriguing and very different sort of move from the long-running company, and this week, we’ve got another legacy competitor making some moves in the increasingly competitive category, with Gatorade dropping two completely new, exclusive, and limited edition flavors.

The iconic sports drink has revealed and released its flagship, electrolyte-powered product in Midnight Ice and Lightning Blast flavors. They have identical electrolyte totals at 110mg of potassium and 80mg of phosphorus, and there is a fair amount of carbohydrates, the majority of it being added sugar, and, of course, a good chunk of calories. In a 28oz bottle of Midnight Ice and Lightning Blast Gatorade, you’re looking at 50g of carbs, 96% of that is sugar at 48g, all leading to a calorie count of 190.

As mentioned, the all-new limited edition flavors from the sports drink legend are exclusive, so you won’t find them everywhere, and you also won’t find the two of them in the same location. According to Gatorade owner PepsiCo, Lightning Blast will only be in coolers at Circle K, which has several thousand stores across the country. As for Midnight Ice, that one has been given to another convenience store giant with even more locations in 7-Eleven.
