NZ Muscle uses collagen in its newest protein innovation to hit 30g of protein per serving

Nz Muscle High Protein Powder

New Zealand retailer and house brand NZ Muscle has a solid selection of protein supplements under its name, from your classic whey-based formula to functional pudding and the light and refreshing clear protein powder. NZ Muscle has added another entry to that category by the name of High Protein Powder, although it needs some explaining, as the title initially had us thinking this was either a better value or a leaner protein solution.

NZ Muscle High Protein Powder is higher in protein per serving, but compared to its original Whey Protein Powder, the serving is also far bigger than the increase in protein. High Protein has 30g of the muscle-building macro per serving, around 5g of carbohydrates, about a gram of fat, and in the area of 150 calories. The interesting part is that, unlike Whey Protein, it combines whey and the incomplete protein, and, more beauty-focused, collagen.

The brand doesn’t say how much of its 30g of protein per serving is collagen, only that it’s one of the three sources in whey concentrate, collagen, and milk concentrate. NZ Muscle’s original Whey Protein has 25g of protein, all from whey, and it has about the same protein-to-calorie ratio, but at 25g per serving. Interestingly, when you count everything up, High Protein works out to be 8% more expensive, going off price per gram of protein.

That 8% is calculated based on 1kg of High Protein Powder versus 1kg of Whey Protein Powder, although the difference is even greater when you grab the latter’s larger sizes, like the 10lb bag, which is 29% better in protein value. If you’re specifically after an infusion of collagen rather than buying one separately, the latest from NZ Muscle is a great option, and it has a variety of flavors, including classic Chocolate and Vanilla.
