XXL and Zuivelhoeve make a large wheel of cheese with more protein and less fat

Xxl Nutrition Fitcheese

Dutch powerhouse XXL Nutrition has been making some power moves over the last few years, partnering with VandeStreek to make a protein-infused beer in Beer With Benefits, and sharing that it sold 2,000,000 pots of its protein yogurt in just eight months. The health and nutrition company has once again got together with Zuivelhoeve, the collaborator on its FitYogurt, but this time for something truly unique in the protein-packed FitCheese.

As XXL Nutrition is known for, at least in the functional food category, FitCheese is a high-protein cheese, and not your standard block of cheese or some sort of cheese snack, but a traditional wheel of cheese. The innovation is a large, half-kilogram wheel that has 32g of protein, a fair amount more than cheddar cheese. The other macronutrients are leaner, particularly the fat, resulting in fewer calories in combination with the heightened protein.

In true functional food fashion, XXL and Zuivelhoeve’s FitCheese takes a familiar food or format, in this case, a very familiar food, and gives it something extra by way of more protein, less fat, and fewer calories. If you’re wanting to get your hands on this one, you’re not going to find it on XXL’s website. The brand has made FitCheese exclusive to Zuivelhoeve and its more than 30 physical stores, which makes sense since it’s a 500g wheel of cheese.
