Quest Nutrition recently launched a new unique flavor for its signature, protein-packed, Quest Bar, available exclusively at 7-Eleven. The release is called the Peanut Butter Brownie Smash Quest Bar and features two different protein bar flavors layered on top of one another.
The Smash Quest Bar concept is pretty awesome to see close up, and not something we’ve seen from any other protein bar brand. As a quick rundown on the nutrition profile of the bar before we get into our review, it provides the usual Quest Bar macros. That includes 20g of protein, 24g of carbohydrates with 14g of that fiber and 2g sugar, 7g of fat, and 190 calories.
Review
The consistency of the Smash Quest Bar is about the same as most other Quest Bar flavors. It has a strong, naturally chewy body that’s filled with mild doses of flavor until you get to the chunks, which in the Smash Bar, are peanuts in the chocolate brownie layer, and chocolate chips in the other.
The taste of the Smash Quest Bar is not too difficult to describe, despite it having two flavors. It features a mild chocolate brownie taste with a hint of sweet peanut butter that can sometimes stand out over the brownie. The chunks do play a role in the overall flavor, as when you hit a peanut, it tastes more like peanut butter, and vice versa when you hit a chocolate chip.
The two competing flavors in the Smash Quest Bar aren’t as strong as you get in the likes of the sweeter, candy bar style protein bars out there like Carb Killa and Barebells. They are however more than enough to satisfy a Quest Bar fan, as mentioned the Smash Bar is a lot like other Quest Bars, it’s just got a unique mix of flavors in there.
Summary
The new Smash Quest Bar is a great new product that we have to applaud the brand on for its creativity. As far as the experience goes, it’s about the same as other Quest Bars, with the usual consistency, flavor strength, and always enjoyable chocolate chunks.
If you’re a fan of Quest Bars, the new Smash Quest Bar is really one you have to try. It’s quite the creative product to see up close, and it provides a unique merging of its peanut butter and brownie flavors. The bar doesn’t change things enough that non-Quest Bar fans will be turned, but otherwise, it’s worth making a trip down to 7-Eleven for.
