While we’ve seen a lot of different types of protein bars over the years with the likes of whole food based, candy bar style, and wafer bars. The all-new protein bar that’s just been unveiled by the newcomer Mountain Joe’s is not something we’ve seen any brand attempt before.
What is it
The first new product from Moutain Joe’s is a rocky road style protein bar. While we have seen plenty of rocky road flavored supplements, as mentioned, this would be the first time we’ve seen a protein snack made to resemble a traditional rocky road bar.
The delicious looking product comes in three flavors with Classic, the toffee based Caramellow, and Peanut Butter. Each of the flavor options has mostly the same build and body with a hard chocolate outer filled with crispy pieces and marshmallows, just like traditional rocky road.
The flavors separate themselves by having a few extra bits and pieces in there to influence the overall taste. Mixed into the bar described above the Classic flavor has cherries and raisins, the Caramallow has toffee pieces, and the Peanut Butter has peanuts and raisins.
Macros
As for the nutrition profile of Mountain Joe’s protein rocky road, each 55g bar provides a strong 15g of protein. The other macros do vary across the three flavors in 21 to 23g of carbohydrates with 4.2 to 4.9g of that sugar, 12 to 13g of fat (9.1-9.4g saturated), and between 235 to 241 calories.
Where to buy
Mountain Joe’s is a UK based company, which is of course where its delicious looking protein rocky road is going to be available first. It is due to launch through the major distributors Muscle Finesse and Tropicana on the 28th of this month, with stores and gyms expected to have it on shelves a little after that.
