Pepsi makes a special edition can that has a display screen wrapped around it

Pepsi Smart Can

The beverage behemoth PepsiCo released a product last week that received considerable attention from the industry and general consumers around the globe, with the extremely intriguing and eye-catching Pepsi Smart Can. At first glance, it looks incredibly technological, as it is the same size and shape as a 16oz can, the standard volume of an energy drink, but instead of having some sort of label wrapped around it or design stamped directly onto it, there is a fast-moving screen.

The Pepsi Smart Can features a screen that curves around the can, not completely, although far enough that it looks like it goes right around from certain angles. If you’re like us, you may be wondering how on Earth it is powered or even what sort of beverage you get inside the Smart Can. After reading through the stories and announcements, this is not an actual can like you can grab from a convenience store cooler, it is best thought of as a display device, like a miniature TV or billboard.

The Smart Can from Pepsi is very much a small screen and surround sound; it doesn’t have a drink inside it, despite the name; it is purely for entertainment purposes and even has on, off, and volume up and down buttons out back. The company is not mass-producing the colorful Smart Cans; they are purely promotional and are being sent out to influencers in many of the spaces Pepsi focuses on, like gaming and music, and would certainly be a standout on any fans’ desk or shelf.
