Mrs. Taste recreates a delicious alfajor as a functional food with 10g of protein

Mrs Taste CookieWich

Mrs. Taste is another South American health and nutrition company similar to Dr. Peanut, which has turned the traditional alfajor treat into a protein snack. We’ve seen plenty of different formats in the world of functional food but have always enjoyed it when brands have put protein into a type of food or shape of snack that’s specific to a region or culture. That is what Mrs. Taste has done in Cookie’wich, a high protein alfajor, mimicking the delicious build of the snack but with a lot more protein.

Cookie’wich from Mrs. Taste in Brazil — distributed in other countries around the globe, including here in the US — features that classic alfajor build of two crumbly cookie or biscuit layers, a flavorful gooey filling, and all covered in rich chocolate. There are four flavors of Cookie’wich, each of them offering a different type of dessert-style experience in a smooth Peanut Butter, sweet-tasting Strawberry, Cookies and Cream, and, of course, the true traditional, a rich and decadent Chocolate.

Mrs. Taste has squeezed a moderate 10g of protein into each of its protein alfajors or Cookie’wiches, with no added sugar, and reasonable but above average numbers everywhere else, as the product does weigh 50g a piece, leaving plenty of room beyond the protein. The Cookie’wich is currently making its way out into the market, and it’s a great expansion for the company that specializes and is mostly known for its sugarless, low-calorie condiments and their mountain of options to choose from.
