Red Bull Zero is being relaunched with a new set of sweeteners for a more traditional taste

Revamped Red Bull Zero Monk Fruit

Red Bull was promoting and sampling a different-looking version of its no-sugar, low-calorie Red Bull Zero energy drink at this year’s NACS Show in Las Vegas, where around the neck of the can, it reads “with monk fruit extract”. We stopped by the brand’s booth and chatted to the team at Red Bull to find out what it’s all about, and there is quite a bit to it, as the all-new product, or iteration of a current product, is a rather significant revamp of Red Bull Zero that’s replacing the current version.

The new and upcoming Red Bull Zero with monk fruit extract is indeed an updated variant of the energy drink that is made with the natural sweetener monk fruit. Just for clarification, this is not an all-natural version of the sugarless energy drink; Red Bull clarified that monk fruit is a key addition to the formula, but it sits alongside other sweeteners, including artificial ones. The brand described the result is a more traditional Red Bull-like flavor, without sugar, and we did get to try it.

The monk fruit-sweetened Red Bull Zero energy drink does indeed have a truer, more classic Red Bull taste; where instead of being overly sweet, it has a more notable, stronger level of that base, malty, syrup Red Bull taste. The dominating beverage brand plans to roll out the monk fruit recipe and version in the coming months, replacing the current Red Bull Zero, and it will stand out on shelves as the shade of blue has been tweaked to something closer to the Red Bull Sugar-Free.
