Reputable hard-hitting brand Black Magic tries its hand at a cost-effective pre-workout

Black Magic Ritual Pre Workout

Cost-effective pre-workouts have become as common as premium pre-workouts, where instead of packing in as much as possible for a much higher price tag, brands go the other direction and rely on a core set of ingredients to deliver at a lower price point. The reputable, typically hardcore sports nutrition brand Black Magic is next in line to release something along these lines with its well-balanced competitor, Ritual.

As mentioned, Black Magic’s Ritual pre-workout will be a more cost-effective entry into the popular category. It’ll be simpler than either of the brand’s other stimulant-backed competitors already out there in BZRK and the loaded premium offering, BZRK Overdrive. You can see that stripped-down approach in the facts panel of Ritual directly below, where you do genuinely get the category’s most common and reliable components.

Black Magic Ritual Label

For muscle pumps, Black Magic has packed Ritual with 6g of straight citrulline, 1.5g of betaine, and a gram of agmatine, then for focus, you get 200mcg of huperzine, 300mg of alpha-gpc, and a respectable 1.5g of tyrosine. The energy is taken care of by B vitamins and 375mg of caffeine, meaning all of the core benefits of a pre-workout are taken care of minus performance, as there isn’t the usual beta-alanine or much else to specifically drive that area.

Black Magic has built a rather strong reputation in the pre-workout category, mostly with BZRK, which has been a potent, hard-hitting competitor in its various versions. BZRK Overdrive took that up a notch, and now the company is looking to keep that reliability going but at a lower price. We’re not sure how much Ritual is going to cost for its tub of 25 servings, although usually these things sit in and around the $30 range.
