Protella makes a protein powder with 6g or more of free form aminos in a 30g serving

Protella Whey Protein

Protella is a European functional food company that has slowly branched into more traditional, flavor-first health and nutrition supplements like oats, collagen, creatine, and cream of rice. This week, we’ve got a revamp in that direction, with a new version of protein powder. Protella Whey Protein is much the same as its other classic supplements; a simple and straightforward competitor that sets itself apart in the flavor department.

Protella’s refreshed whey-powered protein powder is relatively simple, with whey concentrate providing 23g of protein in a 30g serving, just 2g of carbohydrates, most of that sugar, less than a gram of fat, and 101 calories. It’s a lean entry into the saturated category, and for a bit of extra functionality, the brand has infused it with DigeZyme enzymes and muscle-building Creapure creatine at 3g in that standard 30g serving.

Protella Whey Protein Ingredients

It is worth noting that Protella has added glycine and glutamine in Whey Protein, and looking at the ingredient list, there is more of them than the creatine. The brand promotes the supplement with the tagline “100 Whey Protein”, and there is more than 3g of each of the free form aminos. If you consider the whey being responsible for all of the protein, then the creatine, glycine, and glutamine separate and just 3g a piece, it simply adds up to more than the serving.

We have reached out to Protella to clarify and be certain if the new Whey Protein is counting the glutamine and glycine toward the 23g of protein in a 30g serving, and we will share the response when we have it. There are quite a few flavors at launch for Whey Protein, similarly creative to its original menu with the likes of Caramel Macchiato, Choco Latte, and for those who want to mix it with something, there is Unflavored.
