Pure Whey Protein is the signature protein powder from the giant health and nutrition company Bulk, in the United Kingdom, which is a straightforward whey concentrate supplement, packed with protein and reasonable numbers everywhere else. While we’re not sure exactly when, Bulk has recently reworked the formula behind Pure Whey Protein, keeping its purpose the same, although changing up the nutrition profile.
The version of Pure Whey Protein in Bulk’s official online store still has whey concentrate as the one and only source of protein, as has been the case for as long as we can remember. The nutrition, however, is a bit different, and you can see it for yourself by comparing the Vanilla Pure Whey Protein on Amazon and the one at bulk.com. Looking at the macros per 100g, instead of 75g of whey-powered protein, there is now 71g, that’s around 5 to 6% less, and the other interesting thing worth looking at is the carbohydrates.
Not only do you get less protein, but you get about 65% more carbohydrates, and that includes more than two and a half times the sugar. Again, comparing Bulk’s Vanilla Pure Whey Protein, 100g before had 4.5g of sugar, while the one now on bulk.com has 12g. They are changes worth knowing about for regular buyers of the protein powder, especially if you like to pay attention to protein content, value, and overall nutrition.
