The mainstream-level protein snacking brand Pure Protein is on a roll as of late, with a lot of news coming in over the last few weeks. It wasn’t too long ago that the team marked the anniversary of its Popped Crisps with new Cinnamon Sugar and Sweet Kettle flavors. Those were quickly followed by a variety snack bundle at Costco, two authentic Pebbles cereal flavors of the Pure Protein Bar, and the spicy collaboration, RedHot Popped Crisps.
In the midst of all of that, Pure Protein has also launched a Zig Zag Cake Pure Protein Bar, very obviously inspired by the classic Little Debbie creation, Zebra Cakes. The product features the usual doughy base, a lighter layer up top, and a covering of vanilla cake frosting with squiggles of milk chocolate, like an original Zebra Cake. While the taste is intended to replicate the familiar food, the nutrition is all about high protein and low sugar.
A single Zig Zag Cake Pure Protein Bar comes with 19g of muscle-building protein, slightly lower than that in carbohydrates at 17g, just 3g of that sugar, all added sugar, 6g of fat, and just under that mark of 200 calories at 190. The product is already available at the likes of Walmart, where it comes in boxes of four at a low $5.82.
