The Musashi sister brand, Athena, has been built from the ground up specifically for women, and while it’s not as extensive as the legacy competitor Musashi, it covers plenty of key categories, including protein powder, creatine, and pre-workout. Athena has just become a lot more diverse with its first-ever beverage, and like most health and nutrition companies that go down that path, it is a caffeinated competitor in the Athena Energy Drink.
The formula behind the Athena Energy Drink starts with B vitamins, a moderate amount of acetyl-l-carnitine at 300mg in a 355ml can, and a combined 410mg of electrolytes to support hydration and performance. Taking care of the anytime, uplifting energy portion of the beverage is caffeine, natural caffeine at 111mg, which is on the lighter side of the category, even in Australia and New Zealand, where the maximum in a 500ml can is 160mg.
There are three flavors of the Athena Energy Drink, all simple and single-fruit-based with Peach, Mango, and Berry, none of which have any sugar, less than a gram of carbohydrates, and a low 14 calories. The beverage is already showing up in retailers across Australia and New Zealand, and the retail price is quite competitive, including directly through the Athena online store, where you can pick up a case of a dozen cans for just $32.33 (23.14 USD).
