Bucked Up isn’t known for its functional foods; in fact, it’s one of the few areas of health and nutrition the giant company has yet to venture into. The successful brand has plenty of sports nutrition supplements, which it continues to build on, and multi-benefit beverages, another department that seems to get bigger and bigger. Bucked Up has just introduced a snack that’s high in protein, although it’s not your traditional bar, cookie, or even chips.
Bucked Up has launched Protein Popcorn, a 60g bag of the classic movie snack that is very simply made from popcorn, milk isolate for extra protein, a bit of sugar, and flavoring ingredients. The nutrition balance of the product isn’t great, with a protein-to-calorie ratio far from your standard protein bar. The muscle-building macronutrient is a low 12g in a bag alongside 27g of carbohydrates, 7g of that sugar, 18g of fat, and 300 calories.
Those numbers are based on Bucked Up’s Kettle Corn flavor of Protein Popcorn, and only vary slightly across its other options, Garlic Parmesan, Jalapeno Cheddar, and White Cheddar. The innovation is considered more of a better-for-you popcorn than a protein supplement, as you do get more protein, but the other macros have remained normal. The first place to get the product is buckedup.com, where a single 60g bag is $5.99.
