The always evolving company has introduced a new feature today called Amazon Key that’ll make future deliveries that little bit simpler and secure.
Amazon Key is an Amazon Prime exclusive service that allows deliveries to be made into your home when you’re not there. The way it works is you first need to purchase an Amazon Key In-Home Kit which consists of an Amazon Cloud camera and a variety of compatible smart locks.
From there, you’ll need to make an order and select the “Free in-home delivery” option. Once the courier gets to your address with your order, it’ll scan the package’s barcode, which turns on your Amazon Cloud camera for live viewing of the delivery, then grant the courier access to place the package inside your home.
While Amazon Key is extremely convenient and safe for courier deliveries, it can stretch far beyond that. Amazon has highlighted many other ways it can benefit you for example if you order a house cleaning that utilizes Amazon Key, you’ll be able to grant them access to your home without being there.
You can already pre-order an Amazon Key In-Home Kit from Amazon for installation yourself or free installation by a professional. The service, however, is currently limited to select areas, so you will need to enter your zip code first to find out if you’re eligible.
