Be Legend turns a traditional Japanese dessert into a protein powder

be legend oshiruko protein

Japanese brand Be Legend has done some interesting products and collaborations since we were introduced to it, including flavors put together in partnership with Gundam, Street Fighter, and Naruto. The team has come out with another creative item to start the New Year, although this one is not a collaboration but a standalone product inspired by a local dessert.

Be Legend has taken Shiruko, or Oshiruko, a traditional sweet Japanese dessert made with azuki beans and Mochi, and turned it into a protein supplement. The product is powered by whey protein and red bean powder and intends to provide a realistic Oshiruko experience in the form of a lean, high protein shake or mixed into a bowl with less water to turn it into a thick dessert.

Be Legend’s Oshiruko Protein packs a typical amount of protein per serving at 20g alongside 1.5g of fat, 5.4g of carbohydrates, and 119 calories. The product has already sold out through the brand’s retail partner Real Style, with no word on whether it’s coming back soon or not.
