Podium successfully recreates a stroopwafel experience with gooey caramel and 6g of protein

Podium Protein Stroopwafel

Premium sports nutrition brand Podium has followed up on its preview from a few weeks ago with the complete reveal and release of its unique, moderate-protein snack, the Protein Stroopwafel. As per the name, the product is inspired by and based on the traditional Dutch treat, stroopwafel, which is typically two thin, wafer-like round cookies with a gooey filling between them. That experience has been recreated in Podium’s first-ever functional food but, of course, with extra protein in the mix.

Podium’s Protein Stroopwafel has those thin and crispy wafer-like layers, and in between them, for a change in consistency and flavor intensity, is gooey, salty caramel. The various features come together to provide an authentic stroopwafel experience, although the macros are far from traditional here. The product isn’t overly heavy, tipping the scales at 30g a piece with 6g of protein, so 12g if you want to power up for two, alongside 5g of fat, 15g of carbohydrates, 8gh of that sugar, and 135 calories.

Those macros of Protein Stroopwafel are actually rather reasonable for something that’s designed as a better-for-you alternative or a treat to crush cravings. The balance is not far off some of the nut butter-based protein bars on the market, as two of these get you 12g of protein and 270 calories. If you’d like to give Podium’s functional food debut a shot, you can get it from its online store at $14.99 for a box of eight, which is low, but again, they’re not heavy, so eight could turn into four sittings very easily.
