Japanese supplement company Haleo makes all sorts of sports nutrition products, and it even digs into the functional food realm rather intensely, too, with intriguing innovations like protein-packed soup and a protein gelato in a Manuka Honey flavor. Another on-the-go item the brand has available is the simply named Protein Cookie, which is a high-protein food that is in that somewhat common cookie format. That functional product has just landed another flavor to go alongside its original Cranberry Chocolate Chip.
Previously, there was just one taste to choose from for Haleo’s Protein Cookie in Japan, and it is rather different, giving the traditional Chocolate Chip a bit of a twist by throwing in some cranberries. The second-ever option for the protein snack has that same sort of idea, although it’s a more familiar blend with Macadamia White Chocolate. The product has a smooth doughy cookie, then sprinkled throughout the circular snack are chunky pieces of white chocolate and, for that extra crunch, macadamia nuts.
Haleo’s functional food is not made with collagen; instead, it gets its 10g of protein per piece from milk hydrolysate, and alongside that is twice as many carbohydrates at 20g, most of that sugar at 16g, 5.9g of fat, and 166 calories. The product is available starting this week straight from the brand’s online store at a very reasonable ¥3,980 (25.78 USD) for a box of ten.
