BB.com and its founder make a documentary that takes you all the way back to the beginning

If you’ve ever heard of, visited, or shopped at Bodybuilding.com, you may want to check out its YouTube channel this week and watch the extremely interesting and well-put-together documentary it’s done called Becoming Bodybuilding.com. It is a worthwhile 12-minute video that starts right back at the beginning, how the online supplement store, information hub, and community came about, all straight from the mouth of the founder and original CEO, Ryan DeLuca.

Bodybuilding.com has certainly taken the time to go through every step of the story, and with Ryan DeLuca being the basis of the documentary, you get a firsthand narrative about the company and how it came to be. DeLucas talks about the small selection of supplements he and Bodybuilding.com began with, how he expanded from his home to a small warehouse and an army of employees, and how important it was to promote products that were efficacious and got results.

It was awesome hearing the beginning of the website’s name as well, where Ryan DeLuca reached out to acquire the domain only to be denied. A year later, the opportunity presented itself, and he paid what was definitely a hefty amount of money at the time in $20,000.

Bodybuilding.com has come a long way over the years, from being the powerhouse go-to online supplement store back in the early 2010s with exclusive brands, supplements, and flavors to having to deal with some immense competition these days. The landscape is very different from what it used to be, with giants like Amazon, TikTok, and even Walmart now in the mix, but Bodybuilding.com has remained, and it continues to evolve to keep up with the business and trends.
