GAAM drops a wafer-style snack that’s more about low sugar than high protein

Gaam Chocolate Wafer

GAAM Nutrition, a house brand of Swedish retailer Proteinbolaget, has already been pretty busy in the first few weeks of the New Year, releasing an all-new flavor of its popular energy drink as well as two new options for its Soft Protein Bar in Caramel Peanut and Chocolate Almond. This week, we’ve got something entirely new and different from the health and nutrition company by way of the GAAM Chocolate Wafer, a bar-format product, but instead of being dense and doughy, it has a wafer build.

The newly released GAAM Chocolate Wafer from GAAM Nutrition features a number of light, crispy, and crunchy wafer layers, with some protein worked in amongst it all, although not a lot. You get 3.7g of protein in a 50g wafer snack, 25g of carbohydrates with 5.5g of that sugar, and a hefty 16g of fat, leading to 256 calories. This isn’t exactly a protein-packed food; it’s more of a better-for-you treat, where you get a delicious, dessert-like experience with a bit of protein but, mostly, less sugar.

Proteinbolaget sells GAAM Nutrition’s GAAM Chocolate Wafer for an extremely fair price of 15 kr (1.35 USD) per piece. That’s hugely cost-effective; however, as mentioned, it’s not a protein snack, so it’s no surprise it doesn’t carry the price of one. Things get even cheaper when you get a box of 28 at 10.67 kr, which is less than a dollar in USD, and for all of January, the retailer has a bulk deal with an additional 50 of 500 kr purchases, 100 on 750, and 200 on 1,000, getting down as low as 8.89 kr.
