Foodspring closes its doors six years after its reported €300 million acquisition

Foodspring Closes Its Doors

Foodspring is or was a hugely popular health and wellness supplement company in Europe, specifically Germany, which amassed a huge 258,000 followers on Instagram and has pumped out several innovations over the years. We’ve seen all sorts of protein powders, sports nutrition products, and functional foods, and to give you an idea of its early success, the food giant Mars acquired Foodspring back in 2019 for what was said to be around €300 million.

The reason we’re talking about Foodspring’s past success is that this month, it has announced that it is closing its doors. The company has claimed it’s made the move due to the tough conditions of the market in Germany and Europe, which has certainly changed and evolved substantially over the years. Foodspring has said it’s closing down the business this month and eventually all of its customer-facing operations in about three months at the end of June.

The supplement industry is competitive and ever-changing, and the news from Foodspring is the perfect reflection of that. Going from a €300 million acquisition half a decade ago to closing down completely is an eye-opening story, but regardless, the brand has said it would like to thank its many customers over the years as well as business partners and associates.
