Slate squeezes a higher 42g of protein into its larger Ultra Shake

Slate Ultra Protein Shake

The delicious ready-to-drink protein brand, Slate, stepped things up recently with its equally tasty and higher protein concentration beverage. The brand’s Nutrition Shake, as it’s called, has more protein than the original Slate Protein Shake at 32g and a better calorie balance of 150 in a decadent Milk Chocolate flavor. Launching soon is yet another innovation that takes things even further up the ladder of protein in the Slate Ultra Protein Shake with an even higher hit of protein.

While the original Slate Protein Shake has 20g and the Nutrition Shake bumps up to 32g, the all-new Slate Ultra Protein Shake more than doubles that 20g to a hefty 42g of protein from skim milk, all in a 15oz can. The bigger beverage has a similar protein-to-calorie ratio as the Nutrition Shake, with 200 calories in the Chocolate flavor and 190 in Vanilla. Both have only 2g of sugar in a can, and the net carbohydrate count comes in at 4g for Chocolate and 2g for Vanilla.

Slate has a reputation for having some of the creamiest and tastiest competitors in the protein RTD space, and here in 2025, it is clearly looking to take that reputation deeper into the sports nutrition industry with higher and more attractive protein counts. The 32g in the Nutrition Shake was already a solid jump, but the Slate Ultra Protein Shake does that on an even greater level. The promising innovation will be hitting the market shortly, giving consumers the chance to spend slightly higher and get both more protein per unit as well as have more of the flavored milk to enjoy.
