Global giant Glanbia looks to sell the 2018-acquired retailer and brand Body & Fit

From Stack3d
Glanbia Exiting Body Fit

In 2017, the nutrition giant Glanbia, acquired two big names in the industry with the plant-based brand Amazing Grass and the Dutch retailer and brand, Body & Fit. The company paid a combined €181 million for the two, which joined many other names in its family with the likes of BSN, Nutramino, LevlUp, and, of course, Optimum Nutrition. Glanbia has revealed in its latest annual report that eight years on from the acquisition it is letting go of the direct-to-consumer brand Body & Fit.

In its latest annual report, Glanbia has revealed it is exciting Body & Fit, classifying it as held for sale following a portfolio review. The company approved the decision a formal disposal process is currently underway with a sale expected later this year. Body & Fit was deemed not core to Glanbia’s strategy operating model, and as a result, Glanbia took a $46 million hit to its financials, mainly due to lowering the value of Body & Fit on its books and anticipated costs from selling the business.

The health and nutrition landscape is ever changing, and the brands that succeed and sit at the top are constantly revolving. That is the case in many of the major markets around the world, including here in the US, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Europe, specifically the Netherlands regarding Body & Fit. Glanbia still has plenty of other brands to its name, as mentioned earlier, the legendary Optimum Nutrition being the major one, the maker of the iconic Gold Standard Whey Protein.
