TruMoo makes a chocolate milk without any added sugar and 50% more protein

Trumoo Zero

TruMoo is not a brand we’ve ever featured or even talked about here at Stack3d, but it is one that most people will be familiar with. It is a chocolate milk company from DFA, Dairy Farmers of America, and its catalog is loaded with different sizes and formats of delicious chocolate milk, and as is traditional for that type of drink, it’s loaded with sugar. This month, a new entry at the brand has earned it the spotlight here at Stack3d, introducing TruMoo Zero.

The minds behind TruMoo are not deceiving you on this one; TruMoo Zero is indeed a version of its rich and decadent chocolate milk with no added sugar. There is inherently some still in there, although the loss of that type of sugar does bring down the total sugar and carbohydrates a fair amount, as well as reduce the calories. Another interesting feature of TruMoo Zero is that it has no added sugar and a higher concentration of protein by about 50%.

Compared to the regular TruMoo Whole Chocolate Milk, there are 10g fewer carbohydrates at 15g per cup, 12g of that sugar instead of 23g, the same amount of fat at 8g, and the muscle-building protein is just shy of equal to the carbs at 13g. The nutrition profile in TruMoo Zero makes for a tasty post-workout for those after a one-to-one protein-to-carbohydrate ratio, but if you scale up the serving into the 40s or even 50g of protein, be mindful of the fat.

Since the start of the year, more and more companies have been paying attention to ready-to-drink protein, finding new and convenient ways to help consumers get more protein into their day-to-day lives, and TruMoo Zero does exactly that for TruMoo. It is a step in the right direction for the mainstream chocolate milk brand, and you can look forward to seeing it on shelves soon if not already at supermarkets in 48oz and 64oz sizes.
