Optimum makes a lower protein but presumably even better tasting protein shake

Optimum High Protein Shake Australia

Optimum Nutrition in Australia is rolling out an all-new ready-to-drink protein product, separate from the long-running Pure Pro 35 and Pure Pro 50, the former packing 35g of protein a bottle and the latter 50g. The next entry in the space from the iconic sports nutrition brand is the Optimum High Protein Shake, even more obviously titled, and it comes in lower than either of those other two, squeezing 30g of protein in a 375ml shake in four deliciously smooth flavors.

The 30g protein in Optimum Nutrition’s newly released High Protein Shake comes from milk and casein, ensuring great taste, texture, and a quality source of protein, while the carbohydrates sit at a high but reasonable 10g, with around 8 to 9g of that is sugar. The fat lands around the 4g mark, all coming to a calorie range of 203 to 216, depending on which of the traditional tasty flavors you grab: Chocolate, Vanilla, and the sweet fruit-themed options, Strawberry and Banana.

The nutrition profile isn’t overly lean, especially compared to some of the competitors you get here in the US, or even compared to Optimum Nutrition’s own Pure Pro 35, where you get 35g of protein, 3g of carbohydrates, and much lower calories, at just under 170. We have to imagine the taste on the new Optimum High Protein Shake makes up for the nutrition balance, and it’s rolling out to retailers in Australia this month for around $6 to $7 with bulk cases also available.
