Nutricon uses fava bean in its second protein but not because it’s vegan-friendly

Nutricon Nanotech Whey

Nutricon in South Africa has made a second protein powder, similar in ways to its original Whey Isolate, but it has a key difference, and it is a rather interesting twist. Nanotech Whey is indeed a whey-powered supplement like Nutricon’s Whey Isolate, although this one relies on whey concentrate. The twist comes in with the other source in the product, one that is actually most responsible for the protein in fava bean.

This might be the first time we’ve seen fava bean used for a purpose beyond a comprehensive, plant-based protein solution, as Nutricon has put it in Nanotech Whey for its natural phytonutrients and polyphenols. The goal is to get the benefits from those additional features of fava bean, such as combating oxidative stress, supporting cardiovascular health, and improving gut function and health.

Nanotech is sort of a functional protein, as while it has those other benefits, it is still a complete source of protein with a robust amount of all nine amino acids, a solid 23g of protein per serving, a gram of carbohydrates, 2g of fat, and 121 calories. Nutricon has launched its second-ever protein powder in an impressive number of flavors, five to be exact, including Peanut Bomb, Espresso, and Strawberry Cream.
