Prot adds protein functionality to familiar foods and a versatile cookable block

Introducing Prot In India

We’ve seen quite an uptick in functional food companies as well as functional innovations coming out of India, and while most of them have been in the usual beverage and protein bar arena, that’s not the case with Prot. This brand is closer to the likes of Real Good Foods and FroPro, where it takes familiar foods and formats, and injects a vegetarian-based recipe with added pea isolate to ramp up the amount of protein.

Pro has a whole food line with Protein-Up Fingers, Protein-Up Dimsums, and Protein-Up Tikki, which are all made with pea and rice protein, and quinoa, to replicate the original food in the name while being completely plant-based and high in protein. Those Protein-Up products are well worth a look, but the star of the show for us is the highly unique Prot Block, which is also made with pea protein as well as wheat fiber and spices.

Prot Block Close Up

As for what Prot Block is, it’s quite a surprising innovation, as it is a large, soft block or brick. The idea is you pull it out, cut it up to your preferred amount for a meal or snack, and put it on a sandwich, air fryer, or frying pan. It is designed as a true protein supplement that comes in an edible food format that can be cut up, cooked, and so on, and has the texture of food too.

Prot has been around for a while, and we have to commend the company on its approach, as it’s not really something you’ll see in most markets around the world. The Prot Block is as interesting as it sounds, even more so with its 15g of protein, 19g of carbohydrates, and 200 calories in a 100g serving. You can read learn all there is to know about the brand and its items at eatprot.com, with the Prot Block coming in Original and Tandoori flavors.
