Cheese is one of the better, naturally high-protein and low-carbohydrate foods available to consumers, and that is all with just what you get in the food, no added source of protein or anything like that. The dairy giant Babybel demonstrates that perfectly with its Original Semisoft Cheese, packing 8g of protein across two pieces, zero carbohydrates, no sugar, 10g of fat, and 140 calories, giving you an almost one-to-one ratio of protein to fat.
New to market this month from the major cheese company Babybel is Babybel Pro, and with the rise in protein-infused products, you could probably guess where this one is going. Instead of pasteurized cultured milk, the innovation is made with pasteurized cultured reduced-fat milk, resulting in a bit more protein. Across two pieces of Babybel Pro, you get 25% more protein at a total of 10g, no carbohydrates, a lower 6g of fat, and 100 calories.
Again, cheese is already a high-protein, low-carbohydrate food, and Babybel Pro pushes that balance a little more in favor of protein, which is great for those who are purely looking for a convenient source of protein. Babybel has launched the protein-packed food at major retailers, including the big box player Target, where you can get bags of 12 pieces, six servings of two, at a very reasonable $8.39, 16% more expensive than Babybel Original.
