Kraft introduces a 70% higher protein Mac & Cheese at Sam’s Club

Kraft Mac And Cheese Powermac

Many major brands have jumped on the proteinification trend, where they’re infusing the muscle-building macronutrient into their signature foods and snacks, which you wouldn’t typically expect extra protein from. The team at Kraft is the latest to throw its hat in the ring with a product that is currently exclusive to the discount retailer Sam’s Club and is looking to provide the same sort of solution as Legendary Foods’ latest innovation.

Kraft’s signature Mac & Cheese now has a version called PowerMac with a lot more protein than your standard macaroni and cheese. In an 80g serving of the functional product, you get 17g of protein thanks to the infusion of plant-based pea protein, alongside 48g of carbohydrates, 9g of that sugar, 3g of fat, and 270 calories. The brand has simply added protein, not lowered the carbs or sugar, unlike Legendary Foods’ Protein Pasta.

Compared to Kraft’s Original Mac & Cheese, gram to gram, you get 70% or 7g more protein, 14% fewer carbohydrates, and slightly more fat; again, that is when comparing the same size serving of each. The new Mac & Cheese PowerMac comes in the one Original variety, and seeing as it’s available at Sam’s Club, it has plenty of value to offer, with a bundle of eight 7.25oz boxes costing $14.62, enough for 20 servings at 80g each.
