FroPro finds a way to put 15g of protein into a gooey ganache-loaded lava cake

Fropro Protein Lava Cakes

FroPro in Australia has been incredibly fun and exciting to watch since we started following the functional food innovator several months ago. From protein-packed pizza and protein burritos to protein cheesecake and even protein dumplings, it clearly isn’t afraid to bring extra protein to any format. FroPro is at it again this week, doing the unthinkable, revealing and releasing mouthwatering Protein Lava Cakes.

Now available at the giant supermarket chain Woolworths, in FroPro’s home country of Australia, are Protein Lava Cakes, coming in packets of two, just like its increasingly popular Protein Cheesecake. The product is a small but heavy and doughy 115g cake that is filled with a delicious ganache. There are two flavors, each with its own individual tastes: Double Chocolate, with a chocolate cake and rich chocolate ganache inside, and Caramel, a double hit with a caramel-flavored cake and salty caramel filling.

The nutrition on FroPro’s Protein Lava Cakes is not as good as a protein shake, although they look like they’re more than worth it. The protein sits at 15g per piece, 2 to 7g of fat, a large 36 to 37g of carbohydrates, 7g or less of that sugar, and 237 to 277 calories. That protein-to-calorie ratio isn’t too bad compared to some protein bars out there, and again, we can’t reinforce this enough, it’s a lava cake which you can throw in the microwave for 90 seconds and forget you’re eating anything with extra protein.
