Protein Rex in Russia plays in a lot of different shapes and sizes with its large line of functional foods, including your traditional bar, brownies, wafers, miniature cakes, and even a lamington-like snack. The brand has stepped away from those familiar formats with its all-new Rex Pie, a decadent protein treat that reminds us a lot of Finaflex’s popular Oatmeal Protein Pie, or more specifically, its delicious chocolate-covered Moon Pie collaboration Power Pie.
Rex Pie is essentially two soft and crumbly cookies, either side of a sweet and fluffy marshmallow filling, and then altogether, they’re wrapped in rich milk chocolate. Again, it’s a lot like Finaflex and Moon Pie’s Power Pie, or even Fit Kit, which is also from Russia, and its signature Protein Cake. No matter what you compare or liken it to, Protein Rex’s latest functional innovation looks and sounds delicious, and it doesn’t do too badly in the nutrition department either.
A single Rex Pie from Protein Rex tips the scales at 30g, and from that bite-sized functional cake, you get 4g of protein, 5g of fat, 12g of carbohydrates, none of it sugar, and a late double-figure calorie count of 95. The product is not as lean as your standard protein bar or even close to a protein shake, but with a light infusion of protein and no sugar, it works great as a quick and easy better-for-you treat, and it’s pretty cheap at around ₽100 (1.24 USD) apiece.
