Planta was originally a popular plant-based protein powder from High Performance Nutrition, more briefly known as HPN. It’s always been a great-tasting supplement that has relied on a blend of pea and brown rice protein, with a gram of added BCAAs to ensure you get a comprehensive amino acid profile for better muscle growth. For 2026, the brand has brought the formula into the modern age with a rather notable change.
Ambrosia’s updated Planta protein powder has lowered the amount of the original blend to make way for an innovative ingredient called Solein, a source of protein that’s completely soy, dairy, and animal-free. Solein is a next-generation protein created through gas fermentation using a single-cell organism, offering a natural, sustainable, nutrient-dense alternative that still packs plenty of protein with minimal carbohydrates and fat.
The Solein-powered Planta provides the same 20g of protein per serving, 3g of carbohydrates, none of that sugar, 2.5g of fat, and 120 calories. Ambrosia still includes the added vitamins and minerals, as well as the BCAAs, to strengthen the amino acid profile for an even more comprehensive protein supplement. The modernized Planta is available first through ambrosia.com in the Salted Caramel Cold Brew flavor, while presumably, the other flavors will make the shift to the Solein recipe as the previous version sells out.
