Chinese beverage maker Electro X traditionally focused on hydration and performance in its selection of products, especially in its flagship Plus drinks. Plus Functional combines a solid set of electrolytes and BCAAs for endurance and recovery, while Plus Electrolyte combines a variety of electrolytes for hydration and carbohydrates for fuel and performance. This month, the brand has turned its attention to a different type of beverage with the introduction of the Plus Protein Drink.
Electro X’s Plus Protein Drink is not about electrolytes, as you could have probably gathered. At the center of the China-based brand’s latest innovation is indeed protein at a moderate 15g in a 300ml bottle, primarily from high-quality milk. The product is first and foremost a ready-to-drink protein supplement, so its sugar, carbohydrates, and fat are at a minimum for the debut flavor, Cocoa, and there are also 3g of BCAAs, but we’re not sure if that’s added or naturally occurring.
The all-new Plus Protein Drink from Electro X is now available in China through all the brand’s usual online retail channels, and as mentioned, there is just one taste to choose from to start in a rich Cocoa. Electro doesn’t actually have multiple flavors for its other functional beverages, which could mean Cocoa is the only option that there will ever be for the convenient protein product, although we could see this being the exception that gets a full menu as it grows in popularity.
