ADM has expanded its protein portfolio with the introduction of eight new ingredients across the major North American and European markets, a few of them giving manufacturers in the supplement world a broader range of options to work with. Ingredient innovation is one of the biggest driving forces behind innovation in finished products, as they give the tools to build a new supplement or concept for brands to then make and present it to consumers.
Several of the additions from ADM center around soy protein, including ProFam 883 for protein beverages and powders, ProFam 894 for Greek yogurt alternatives and dairy-free products, plus Arcon IH, SB, and 412, each tailored to improve texture, juiciness, or yield in meats. ADM has also introduced a pea flour ingredient featuring naturally occurring fiber and minimal formulation impact for functional foods, better-for-you snacks, and protein treats.
ADM’s ProFam 883 is the most relevant one to supplement companies and our audience, which is a soy protein isolate specifically designed for drinks and powders, likely in the protein, meal replacement, or even mass gainer markets. The ingredient promises better solubility and dispersibility, two characteristics that can be especially valuable in ready-to-drink products and protein powders, where mixability and texture are critical and memorable.
