PopCorners uses pea and rice isolate to bump up the protein in its popular air-popped snack

Popcorners Protein

The proteinification trend hasn’t been as busy this year as it was in 2025, but we’ve still seen plenty of big-name companies and food brands take their signature products and infuse them with a fair amount of protein. The latest to take on the trend is none other than the well-known air-popped corn snack PopCorners, which has taken its signature product and thrown in some pea and rice isolate to bump up the protein.

The newly released PopCorners Protein or Protein PopCorners come with 9g of protein per serving, working out to 45g in a full-size 5oz bag. Again, the brand hasn’t added whey or milk protein to give it that bump, but plant-based pea and rice isolate. The protein does knock down the carbohydrates, where the regular PopCorners have 20g a serving versus Protein PopCorners’ 12 to 13g, 1 to 2g of that sugar, and 140 calories. If you want those numbers per bag, that’s up to 65g of carbs and a heavy 700 calories.

Basically, the calories in Protein PopCorners are about the same as the original, but 25% of them are coming from protein, versus 2g of protein per serving to make up just 5% of the calories of regular PopCorners. It is a great alternative to the popular air-popped snack, and it has been released in a family of three familiar flavors with Hickory BBQ, Cinnamon Delight, and Zest Cheddar, again available in large 5oz bags.
